There are 82 peaks in the Alps with altitude over 4000 meters, and Breithorn, Matterhorn’s neighbour, is considered easiest of them all. But for sure, not to be underestimated, you feel the high altitude with every step you make.
We had a one day window of good weather and we made most of it. Cable car that runs from Cervinia to almost 3500 meters made the ascent much easier. From there it is a fairly easy walk over the spectacular glacier and spectacular panorama that opens up in front of your eyes on surrounding mountains and long ridge of Breithorn (the Breithorn traverse). We approached the summit from the east, where trail follows a rather sharp but amazing crest.
Truly an amazing hike!
